В ВУЗах один из наиболее сочных периодов, доставляющих много веселья -- это период защиты дипломов. Существует даже мнение, что этот период более плодотворен на юмор, нежели сессия, но по моим наблюдениям, количество сторонников того и другого мнения примерно равны.

Первое место в этом году занимает следующая ситуация, уже вовсю передаваемая из уст в уста:

-- Уважаемые члены... Уважаемые члены... Уважаемые члены... Уважаемые члены... Уважаемые члены...
-- Да мы уже поняли, кто такие, давайте дальше!

Причем человек не заика, абсолютно нормален и здоров. И остаток речи толкнул вполне прилично. Просто так вышло.

Другая ситуация и комична, и трагична одновременно. Некий умник явился на защиту вообще не зная своей речи. Т.е. диплом-то он делал сам, но выступление по нему не готовил. Зато у него была бумажка с речью, которую он напыщенно читал утром перед защитой. И вот, его время выступать. На экране демонстрируется презентация. Слайды гражданину помогает вращать студентка (пульт как всегда куда-то дели). Он что-то говорит и говорит, говорит и говорит... Минут пять говорит, а на экране все один и тот же слайд. В конце концов в его словах образуется логическая пауза, и девушка включает следующий слайд. Студент возмущенно: "Что это такое! Я же по этому слайду еще ничего не сказал!"

Были и ситуации, спровоцированные участниками комиссии. Так, один раз уже уставший председатель комиссии умудрился как-то уж больно хитрó сформулировать фразу "согласны ли Вы с замечаниями рецензента?", чем поверг дипломницу в ступор примерно на минуту. Но тут ее выручили -- повторив вопрос в той формулировке, что приведена у меня. У студентки как камень с шеи упал -- "Да-да! Конечно согласна!"


P.S. Поступают сведения о крайне низком качестве материала, что учится сейчас на четвертом курсе. Что-ж, весной увидим -- как раз ко мне в лапы попадут :-)

wow i havent updated in forever! well today i just got back from a 5 day camping trip in Big Sur, Monterey. i hated it! i hate camping and the first night it rained and my sleeping back got fludded with water! ya not fun! and then we went on a few hikes and we got to stay in cabins after the night i got fludded so it all got better except for the 4 hr hike we went on all up hill! it sux! but things r better now that im at home and i got to eat at chilis! i luv that place (and haley was our server)!

Who has the power in certain departments? In Marshall Fields there are several different kinds of authority. There are departments all throughout the store in which they all have managers, and assistant managers. But then there are the other offices that have a different kind of authority as in hiring certain people, firing people, planning events and so on. What is the relationship among people, authority and location? There is a certain level of authority for a certain location. The customers also have authority though because when they walk in, you have heard the line, “the customers are always right.” In this case, the customers have authority over the employees because the employees are there to help the customers. How does the site have authority? Marshall Fields has authority because it is intervened with other stores, so all the stores come together as one. Also, Marshall Fields has several different departments, so the store has more authority over the smaller departments within itself. How does the authority figure shape the culture? The authority that Marshall Fields has is that they have all different kinds of positions in charge of different people. There are so many different levels, which shapes the store into more of a disciplines, organized kind of culture. How are gatherings scheduled? As most of us know, Marshall Fields is always having different kinds of events. For example, this fall they had several different people come in to visit from Jennifer Lopez to Sarah Jessica Parker to Stacey London. These kinds of things take so much work to put together and make sure that everything is organized and on time. This is where those come in who have the job of just planning certain events, which are called the event planners. This department is like a calendar, they figure things out and do what they need to do to plan certain events, then they have the authority of telling everyone else what his or her duties are, what is going on, and where they need to be at a particular time. I had mentioned before that the customers have authority over the store in certain circumstances, besides one. When a customer comes in and is misbehaving, then the store has the right to ask the person to leave. However, they do no have the right to tell them to go to jail or to do anything else, BUT leave the store. In fact, there are different kinds of customers who also get treated with different authority. There are those customers who walk into the store because it was convenient and they need to find something right away, and there are also those customers who go to Marshall Fields and are like locals at the store. These kinds of customers have more power from the store and employees if they have one thing, then the other “non-local” customers. There is something that Marshall Fields has which is called a Fields card. Those who have these cards are usually those who do good business with the store. If one spends a certain amount, then he or she is granted with special things. For example, you get discounts, you get more Fields cards, and you get to go to special sales that most people do not know about. Also, those when an employee asks if he or she has a Fields Card in their possession, and if they DO, then immediately I have notices that the employee tends to be much more personal and friendlier, knowing that the customer is giving them business and is “part of Marshall Fields.” This is the authority and power that different customers have over other customers. Sometimes it is just those little things to figure out who exactly has authority in the store and who does not. In this case, within the customers, it is the field’s card that proves power in this particular event. However, within the employees, some choose to wear nametags that says manager, or assistant manager, but sometimes they choose not to because they do not want people to know that they are the ones who are in charge. But walking around, sometimes it is pretty obvious to the eye on who exactly is in charge. This is by when you see them go to another employee and tell them what to do, or sometimes the managers are running around, trying to fix things and taking charge themselves. Marshall Fields has all different kinds of authority, from the power being to the customers, from the customers, and in the employee’s hands. Department stores have all different kinds of levels and a diverse variety of authority, which makes the store a well structured community.
